Places You Must Not Miss in Al Ain (Part – II)
Al Ain is one of those cities in Abu Dhabi Emirate that brims with fascinating tourist destinations. With plenty of family-friendly attractions to explore, the city is much more than worth a visit. Continuing from our previous post, we bring you some more places of interest that you must not miss during your tour of Al Ain.
Al Ain Oasis
Located in the heart of the city, close to Al Ain National Museum, the oasis is filled with impressive palm plantations. Its shady, cool walkways will transport you from the noise and heat of Al Ain to a tranquil haven. Featuring a series of charming water channels, this inner-city paradise is spread over about 1,200 hectares and contains more than 100 different varieties of date palms.
Al Ain Oasis is a treat to the eyes and a wonderful place to refresh the mind. Make sure to visit the place and be mesmerized by the songs of the birds and rustling of the palm fronds.
Hili Archaeological Park
Set amidst the oasis of Al Ain, the Hili Archaeological Park is where you’ll get to see excavated finds that date back to the Iron and Bronze ages. If you happen to be an enthusiast of archaeology, you’re going to enjoy the broad sense of history at the site. The park lies in a protected area and is surrounded by a beautiful palm tree oasis.
Majority of the findings from the place are put on display at the Al Ain National Museum. It is largely due to these significant discoveries that the city has been inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Al Jahili Fort
The magnificent Al Jahili Fort is among the most historic buildings in the UAE. Erected in 1891, it was built with the purpose to defend Al Ain and protect its palm groves. The fort is located in the Al Ain city center near the Public Garden and is set amid picturesque landscaped gardens.
This gloriously bulky structure houses a wealth of interesting information about the city and the history of the Emirates. The prominent city landmark is also home to a permanent exhibition of the works of Wilfred Thesiger – a renowned British adventurer.
Heritage Theme Park
Situated at the extensive Al Ain Sportplex, the Heritage Theme Park is a tourist destination in its own right. Also known as the Al Ain Heritage and Culture Village, it brings together the richness of the Emirati diversity and culture in one place.
The park is where you get to travel into the past and experience the traditional lifestyle of the UAE. The Heritage Theme Park includes a popular market, an old cafe and two theaters where you can listen to poetry as well as enjoy art shows and entertaining concerts.
Your vacation in Al Ain cannot be complete unless you visit each and every one of the attractions mentioned above. So whenever you’re planning to arrive in the city, make sure you don’t miss out on any of these wonderful tourist places.
