Home to a myriad of tourist attractions, Abu Dhabi is a land of everlasting amusement, enjoyment, leisure and recreation. Magnificent architecture, beautiful beaches, lush green parks and heart-thumping adventure zones, the city has it all. In continuation with our previous post, we have compiled a list of some other top-rated tourist attractions so that you know beforehand where to head out upon arriving in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Corniche
The Corniche Road runs across a striking eight kilometers of neatly trimmed waterfront that includes restaurants and cafes, separate pedestrian and cycle pathways, children’s play areas and a life-guarded beach park known as the Corniche Beach. This impressive beach extends along the Corniche Road beyond Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street where the main entrance is located. You cannot swim out too far as the floating fences will keep you within forty meters of the beach.
This pristine Corniche beachfront of Abu Dhabi has earned itself the coveted Blue Flag status. There are three separate sections at the beach for singles, families and the general public. Over 1,100 free parking areas are available within walking distance of every five minutes. You can enter the public beach without any entrance fee.
Emirates Park Zoo
Among the top tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi, the Emirates Park Zoo offers an amazing experience to all age groups. Located in Al Bahia, it has more than 1700 animals including a pair of majestic white tigers, a Siberian bear, cheetahs, lions and dozens of zebras. All these animals have been housed inside the zoo’s ‘Wild Animals’ and ‘Predators’ enclosures. The park features a unique ‘misting system’ throughout its premises that keeps both the animals and patrons cool during the summer months.
Connected to the zoo is the Emirates Park Resort featuring air-conditioned accommodations having balconies overlooking the zoo. The entry fee is about US$ 2.72 (AED 10) for kids under six years and about US$ 6.81 (AED 25) for adults. There is no entrance fee for kids under two years.
Sheikh Khalifa Park
Located in Al Matar off the Eastern Ring Road, Sheikh Khalifa Park is the best place in the city for unlimited fun, entertainment and relaxation. A major landmark and one of the larger parks in Abu Dhabi, it has a lot to offer its visitors. The visually appealing park boasts of an artistically landscaped grand avenue, waterfalls, lakes and fountains.
With an exciting range of fun-filled activities for kids and adults alike including a miniature railway, a time tunnel ride and the very popular Murjan Splash Park, Sheikh Khalifa Park could well be the pinnacle of exhilaration. You can take a tour of the park either by foot or via a train, whichever feels more convenient to you.
Yas Island
A 30-minute drive from Abu Dhabi will get you to Yas Island – an emerging destination for pure entertainment. It is home to the ultramodern Yas Marina Circuit which hosts the annual F1 Grand Prix. At the centerpiece of this circuit is Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, an iconic 5-star hotel that straddles an F1 race track being astonishingly built half over water and half on land.
Another huge attraction at Yas Island is the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi – the first Ferrari theme park of the world offering thrilling rides, authentic Italian dining and interactive shopping experiences. The Yas Waterworld with breathtaking roller coasters and waterslides is the perfect place for adrenaline seekers. Yas Links Abu Dhabi, Yas Beach and Yas Mall are some of the other attractions to watch out for at the island.
